French Guiana Holidays

Although French Guiana is officially part of France (it even has the Euro as its official currency) - it’s hard to think of two places more different! Composed mainly of tropical rainforests and home to a Creole community, this is certainly not the France you know.

A French Guiana holiday would not be complete without a visit to Saint Laurent du Maroni for it’s fascinating but tragic history as a 19th Century penal colony and the nearby Plage les Hattes which is home to nesting turtles from March to August.

One of the most surprising sights is the Guiana Space Centre, a major European spaceport and home to regular launches for space missions for the EU.

If you’ve come this far, you’ll undoubtedly visit Cayenne – French Guiana’s capital on a tour of the country. Home to an amazing array of cultures, it’s an intriguing place to spend a couple of days to get to know the country’s people and their traditions.
